Course outline
In the CHC22015 Certificate II in Community Services, you will learn some of the basic tasks needed to work effectively in the community services sector. The skills include:
- Time management
- How to communicate in the industry
- Safe work practices
- Providing the first point of contact
The course also covers a range of foundation skills, including:
- Interacting with others at work
- Source and use workplace information
- Workplace documentation
Course outcome
At the end of this course, students will have a broad understanding of the opportunities available in the community services industry and a basic understanding of some of the industry’s requirements. They will have exposure to common vocabulary and practices and the expectations for verbal and written communication and documentation.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be issued a certificate in CHC22015 Certificate II in Community Services, giving you the skills to participate in further study in preparation for employment. Where a learner does not satisfactorily complete the full qualification, a statement of attainment will be issued for those units where they have been deemed competent.
Delivery
This course will run one day a week for 20 weeks via classroom-based face-to-face learning. In addition, some work will be required between classes to complete the assessments.
Assessment
Assessments are made against units of competency from CHC22015 Certificate II in Community Services. For this course, assessment will entail the following:
- The assessments will validate underpinning knowledge, skills and attributes required to meet the course outcomes.
- A range of assessment strategies will be selected to meet different learner needs. Assessment methods include written, oral and practical tasks and assessments. You will be informed when assessments are to take place.
Pre-requisites
An appropriate level of language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills is required to enrol in this course to accurately read and interpret workplace safety policies and procedures, including safety signs, dangerous goods classifications and safety instructions.
As part of our pre-enrolment process, all prospective students complete a Reading, Writing, and Math Evaluation. This helps us see you have the foundation skills needed for success in the course, and it also lets us find any area where you may need extra support.
Requirements
Students must be physically able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor and on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface.
